2021 World Desert Championship Point Standings

A BATTLE IN BAJA | July 2021 Issue

Many off-road racers anticipated the start of the BFGoodrich Tires 53rd SCORE Baja 500 Presented by 4 Wheel Parts in June. With the SCORE San Felipe 250 race acting as the starting position qualifier for the SCORE Baja 500, Bryce Menzies' top finish gave him the starting position for the lead Trophy Truck class. However, this is now a slim advantage, as the TT field is so competitive, it would take the perfect race to even secure a podium position. Read More

THE CLASS CHAMPION'S CHAMPION | July 2021 Issue

Multi-time SCORE motorcycle class champion and apparel/performance products manufacturer, Jim O'Neal, was the Grand Marshal for this year’s BFGoodrich Tires 53rd SCORE Baja 500, Presented by 4 Wheel Parts. At age 74, O'Neal began racing in motocross when he was just 15 years old, and when it comes to the SCORE Baja 500, he has a race-record 21 class wins. "It's an absolute honor to be considered Grand Marshal," he said. "I really appreciate SCORE for giving me that honor. I can tell you the SCORE Baja 500 is my most favorite course, as I have raced every section and it has everything you could ask for." Read More

BAJA'S RECORD BREAKER | July 2021 Issue

When Larry Roeseler won his first Baja 500 race back in 1972, it was the moment that started his amazing racing career that would ultimately total 12 race wins over the history of this race. "I still can’t believe that after winning that race with Bruce Ogilvie on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, that I’d still be racing and winning the Baja 500," said Roeseler. "I still keep shaking my head that I’ve been so blessed throughout my racing career." Read More

TIME TRIALS | July 2021 Issue

It was perhaps one of the most dramatic endings to a SCORE Baja 500 in recent history, when a joint decision from SCORE and the Competition Review Board (CRB) brought down the gauntlet on the first two finishers of the SCORE Trophy Truck class. The race started like all the others, with Bryce Menzies leading the field after his win at the SCORE San Felipe 250, but he was followed by two of the most skilled SCORE Trophy Truck racers in modern times, Luke McMillin and Andy McMillin. A HEAVYWEIGHT CONTENDER | July 2021 Issue

Jason McNeil planned to employ a different strategy this year in taking the Trophy Truck Spec Class win at the SCORE Baja 500. He usually tries to jump toward the front of the pack right from the beginning, but this time his plan was to hold back a bit and wait until around the 300-mile mark to start to make his move. However, with a fifth in class starting position for his #234 TT Spec truck, he began encountering and passing stuck vehicles early, allowing him to move up in position to second on the road in his class after only about forty five miles.
